Volunteer

Volunteering abroad is the most meaningful and inspiring way to travel. To spend a few weeks or even months of your life volunteering your time towards improving lives of a Rwandan family or child brings great rewards. In order to help people here, as well as inform the international community of challenges so many people are facing, we invite you from all around the world to come and experience land of a Thousand Hills which will capture your fascination and hearts.

As a young organization, we are flexible to tailor your work and experience to be the best possible. You are welcome to join in one of our many projects; we are always open to additional suggestions. It’s all up to you! Show your skill, talent, and interests and develop skills relevant to your life.

Here are some of our projects that you are invited to join;

Language Class

Volunteers on this program will take part in providing weekly language class for children in Kigali and in the local communities of Muhanga, which is located about an hour southwest of Kigali. Since curriculum focus has changed from French to English, many children, especially those who cannot access to education easily, are struggling with the new curriculum. Volunteers will lead weekly English classes which focuses on reading, grammar, comprehension and conversation on different levels for children (a) who want to learn English but do not get chance and (b) who need help for their school works and further guidance for language study.

Mentoring Program

Volunteers on this program will act as mentors for children who need guidance and help from more experienced and educated adults. Beyond empowering children of single mothers in the local area, we aim to raise children as leaders in next generation Rwanda. Even though many children are benefiting from universal education carried out by the Rwandan government, there are still some children who are left out of these benefits due to inevitable situations. Even those who are being educated from school still need consistent helps and guidance for achieving their dreams. Volunteers will become mentors of these children (a) to encourage further interest in their studies (b) to help with their homework and studies in general and (c) to advise and guide them to achieve bigger dreams and a further career.

Finance and Business Class

Volunteers on this program will take part in providing two or three seminars through which women will earn basic knowledge regarding managing their business and finance. A majority of the women our organization is supporting are running diverse business such as weaving and tailoring on a small scale. They face some challenges as they do not have enough prior experience in running a business nor effectively managing their income. Therefore, volunteers on this program will lead several seminars which will offer women (a) knowledge about basic business skill such as setting sales prices to maximize profits and (b) lesson on managing revenue and expenditure, saving for better consumption and investment for effective production.
